Movie Night In

It’s hard to think about movie night without picturing the popcorn.

Luscious, butter coated morsels with just a touch of cheese and a pillowy crunch are the perfect pairing for a great story when you are cuddling up with a big woolly blanket on the couch. What a good thing that it’s so quick and easy to make – you’ll be watching the movie in no time!

15 grams of popcorn kernels are all you need for a satisfying snack. Throw them in a hot air popper or use a lidded saucepan on the stove to get the best light, fluffy nibble-inviting results. Once it’s ready, it is time to turn your attention to the toppings. My two favourites are simple and addictive: butter and nutritional yeast.

Melt 2 teaspoons of butter in a small saucepan.

melted butter

Drizzle the butter over the popcorn. Follow that with a sprinkling of 1 gram (about 1/4 teaspoon) of nutritional yeast.

nutritional yeast

Never tried nutritional yeast before? I think of it as a cross between a cheezie and a snap pea crisp – light, salty and slightly cheesy. YUM!

Try it once and you’ll be licking out the bowl! Enjoy the movie!

  1. Himself adores popcorn when watching movies, popcorn smothered in melted butter and a firm shake of sea salt. I’ve heard many people embrace this yeast, and have been curious about it, but will take your word for it.
