Tasty Trick That’s All A Treat

Some days you would rather not spend forever in the kitchen.  Let’s face it, some days you wish there was someone else to do the cooking and the cleaning.  These are the days that restaurants look good, mother tempt us, even though we want home comfort food, we just don’t want to cook it.

Okay so I don’t have a magic wand so I can’t make that meal just happen for you.  But I did find an amazing comfort meal that is made in one pot and takes almost no time at all.  Impossible you say?  That was me too, until I tried this recipe…Easy Tomato Basil Pasta.  And as with most things in my life, this one is flexible and full of flavor.  Best of all, it’s stuff that is easily within your pantry!

I was very skeptical about this recipe, but totally amazed at how it turned out.  You can find the recipe here:   http://www.redtri.com/one-pot-wonder-tomato-basil-pasta.

I modified the recipe a bit,  by increasing the hot pepper flakes, using fresh oregano along with the basil and tomatoes and using dehydrated garlic because that was in the house. Let’s face it I can never leave a recipe or use it in the original form. Can’t be helped, just an issue I guess.

Now it won’t be the most beautiful thing you look at, but it’s finished in under 20 mins and is delicious.  Plus you can add or remove items as you wish.  Not a fan of basil?  Leave it out and add something else, perhaps spinach for added health.  Love basil?  Add a bit more.  And on and on it goes.

See not overly pretty, but very tasty, as in worked all day in the kitchen

Throw on some cheese,  add on a lovely salad and viola a quick, healthy, satisfying and comforting meal!

  1. It’s like us Town! Companion gardeners always suggest that you grow basil next to tomatoes to improve flavour in each. After harvest they’re good together in the bowl. Some things are just meant to be. ♡
