Invasion of the Aliens or a Pattypan Squash?

It’s been all over the news, and while at first I thought it was all just fun and games, a wee bit of a hoax, I now know differently.

It may even happen to you. And also there isn’t much you can do to prevent it, except maybe grab some tinfoil and cover your house with it. That and stay away from the markets! For the love of all that is good I beg of you. Stay. Away. From. The. Markets.

Why? Because of this!

I was spellbound enchanted by these rather unusual cute veggies and so I did bring them into my house. Yes friend, I knowingly brought them home and placed them on the counter. And then I got afraid, very afraid of these aliens. What if they reproduced? What if they took over? (Of course if they took over the household chores I might he okay with that!)

So I decided to put them to good use before they got any ideas. For all I know they were plotting the minute I started to bring them home. πŸ˜‰ But what to do, how to use them best?

I didn’t like any if the recipes for pattypan squash, albeit in on steroids, or is that I’m just used to cute wee ones. Instead I grabbed a recipe for Acorn squash because it’s all relative. (Get it? Relative, as in squash family? πŸ˜‰ )

But I also have no desire to stuff a squash right so instead I took the beasts, removed their skin and cubed them. The recipe I followed is:

Now for the magic, lightly grease a baking dish and with reckless abandon add your squash cubes or whatever shape you made.

Add some chopped bell pepper and onion, remember recipes and amounts are really just guidelines! Come, let’s play!

If you have it throw in some cooked, chopped or shredded chicken.

Heat you oven to 400 degrees and cook that mess until the squash is softening, 10-20 minutes.

Pull it out of the oven, add some goat cheese if you like, or skip if goats aren’t your thing. But really it’s cheese so you should give it a go!

Get 3/4 cups Italian cheese or whatever you like and add.

Now be bold, use 1 tsp of Italian seasoning, or using seasonings of your own choice.

Cook for another 10 minutes or so until the cheese is all melted and golden.

Yes it will be messy! πŸ˜‰ Yes it’s hot and oh my my it’s good. So there you have it, how to eat an alien space craft! πŸ˜‰
